From Many, One (e pluribus unum)

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. In fact, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead

The true power of The Vital Age is in the Wisdom, Passion, and Assets (the WPA) of its members. This virtually untapped asset if organized and properly applied could do much to improve our member’s lives, their communities, and the world at large.

People aged 50+ whom I’ve talked to over the years have expressed a unified wish – the desire to give something back, to contribute in some meaningful way. Maybe even leave a lasting legacy.

I spoke one evening with my daughter’s voice coach as we stood on his porch talking after one of her lessons. He had a beautiful tenor voice and sang with a world-renowned choir. He had taught choir at the college level, and had created numerous community choirs. He had just turned 65 – the mandatory retirement age for this choir, and was being ushered out the door. He said “I’ve got so much to offer, and no place to give it. The world really isn’t interested in what I have to give.”

We’ve posed the question “what couldn’t be done in the world if one could organize the 50+ WPA” The prominent oncologist Dr. Dane Dixon said, “That’s the wrong question. The real question is where will mankind be if we don’t find a way.”
